TRUST | Knowledge in the Age of Distrust

The project aims to understand the impact of new technologies and deep learning algorithms on the processes of generating, circulating, verifying, and adapting scientific knowledge. It also analyzes key factors influencing human communication and information flows amid the rapid development of information technologies. The research team will develop tools for analyzing and modeling information flows and their stability, integrating methods from informatics, semantic and logical text analysis with sociological and historical approaches.

Disinformation: The Biography of AI-Driven Disinformation – A Risk Phenomenon through the Lens of Modern Human Sciences

This project focuses on analyzing the origins, dissemination, reception, and impact of AI-driven disinformation. It combines methods from social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences within five synergistically interconnected research objectives. The project targets the linguistic, psychological, and social dimensions of disinformation and aims to develop tools for its efficient and rapid detection and prevention. Through its key activities, the project integrates Czech research with the international community of excellent research teams.

HumanAID: Human-Centered AI for a Sustainable and Adaptable Society

The HumanAID project focuses on applied research in generative artificial intelligence (AI), particularly large language models (LLMs), with the goal of enhancing democratic processes and human communication. It aims to deepen our understanding of the broader social and cultural roles of AI, traditionally attributed to humans. The project connects excellent research teams involved in the European Research Area (ERA) and provides the necessary material resources for achieving its objectives.

Periphery: Research on Peripheries to Strengthen the Resilience of Czech Society

This project examines social inequalities with a focus on their spatial determinants and the contrast between urban centers and peripheries. Peripheries are understood as areas with accumulated disadvantages in education, economy, politics, health, and communication access. The project will describe and explain the mechanisms behind the formation of spatial inequalities and disadvantages, offering insights into how to reduce disparities and providing recommendations for public policies.

The interdisciplinary URBANITY project provides a comprehensive perspective on urban environment development from the past to the present. It builds on long-term collaboration in urban studies through the Urban Studies Center, which includes the Institute of Contemporary History, the Institute of Philosophy, and Palacký University Olomouc. The project focuses on three key research areas:

  1. Public Space: A place of creativity and conflict
  2. The City as a Space of Inequality
  3. Threats and Urban Resilience

The Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences is a partner in the CoRe project, which focuses on problem-oriented interdisciplinary research on the relationship between resilience and conflict, both in Czech society and in the context of the war in Ukraine, as well as contemporary climate, energy, and migration crises. This complex research requires the integration of excellent research groups, including ERC holders, the development and internationalization of research teams, the provision of material resources, and strong engagement in the European Research Area (ERA). The project aims to conduct research activities, establish new international collaborations, acquire necessary infrastructure and equipment, and support mobility leading to the internationalization of research teams.

Enhancing Mobility in Philosophical Research (MEMPHIS II)

The MEMPHIS II project aimed to support the professional growth of promising human resources at the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences by implementing researcher mobility programs. These addressed pressing societal challenges related to the development of the knowledge society and transformations in cultural identity. The project fostered international collaboration with leading research institutions in high-performance scientific countries. By facilitating knowledge transfer and specialized expertise, the project contributed to the strategic development of the research organization in achieving excellence within the European Research Area (ERA).
