For Students

Inspiring young people to explore science, introducing them to the current research at the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences (FLÚ), and motivating high school students to pursue university studies in philosophy, history, or the social sciences — these are the main goals of the internships for talented high school students organized by the Czech Academy of Sciences under the banner of the Open Science project.

The mentors of these twelve-month internships are researchers from the Institute of Philosophy, under whose guidance the interns work. This gives students the opportunity not only to spend time at a research institution and gain regular contact with the academic community, but more importantly, to take part in real scientific work — to become "researchers on trial." Each research topic may involve two to three interns, reflecting the collaborative nature of academic research. Together, they also present the results of their year-long internship before a panel of experts and an audience at the autumn Student Scientific Conference.

Some internships are supervised by international researchers from the Institute and are conducted in English.

For Teachers

The Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences is committed to promoting collaboration with secondary schools and universities focused on the humanities. As part of our outreach and educational support efforts, we offer internship opportunities for high school teachers who wish to deepen their subject knowledge or explore new topics in philosophy, history, or the social sciences.

These internships are typically structured as a series of consultations with our researchers and are tailored to support specific educational projects at participating schools. We aim to create a space for meaningful academic exchange and to inspire innovative teaching practices.

In recent years, our researchers have supported educators from schools such as the Malostranské Gymnázium and the Jan Neruda Grammar School in Prague.

We welcome new partnerships with schools and educators interested in bringing research closer to the classroom.
