The Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences is the largest science festival in the country, designed to bring science and research closer to the public in all its forms. It takes place every year during the first week of November, inviting visitors to events held both at the Academy’s headquarters in Prague and across its individual research institutes. Admission is free for all.

At the Institute of Philosophy, we offer a diverse program each year, including lectures, guided tours, workshops, panel discussions, staged readings, and other activities. The events are intended for everyone interested in exploring deeper connections between social and natural phenomena, as well as understanding current issues from a broader historical and cultural perspective. The festival is open to secondary school students, who are invited mainly to morning lectures and excursions, as well as to university students and the general public, for whom we prepare programs in the afternoon and evening. Registration is required for all events.

Programme

As part of the festival, we also host Open Days for secondary schools. Students and teachers can explore selected research topics and activities of the Institute, browse recent publications from our FILOSOFIA publishing house, or visit the Jan Patočka Archive.

If you’re interested in attending the Open Day at the Institute of Philosophy, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
