Anotace
Differences between men and women continue to fascinate. Neuroscientists are searching for an underlying biological basis that entail differences at the brain anatomical level but also at the cognitive, psychological level. This talk will focus on disorders of sex development and how changes in sex hormones can inform on brain anatomical differences between men and women and their relation to cognitive-emotional processing. Adopting a developmental perspective, the talk will begin considering genetic disorders of sex development in children and teenagers and end with data from adults choosing to adopt a new sex by virtue of sex reassignment surgery, transgender persons.
