Transitivity Matters
It is initially hard to deny that if A shares a concept α with B, and B with C, then A must also share α with C. However, a growing number of authors contend that transitivity is not a necessary feature of the sharing or coordination of concepts relation. In this talk, I will discuss the motivation for this contention, some of the forms it can take within relational and mental-file frameworks, and its viability vis-à-vis an intuitive notion of concept or representation sharing.
