The project will focus on the transmission and reception of classical texts, exploring the editorial and translational methods of the humanist scholar Zikmund Hrubý of Jelení (Sigismundus Gelenius; 1497–1554). The outcomes will include three peer-reviewed scholarly articles published Open Access in international journals, and a monograph to be published by Brepols within the Europa Humanistica series, Bohemia and Moravia.

The monograph will comprise an analytical section and critical editions of contemporary paratexts that illustrate Gelenius’s editorial and translational approaches to classical literature. A dedicated chapter will focus on Gelenius’s correspondence, which has not yet been critically edited as a whole but provides valuable insights into his scholarly work and his position within the intellectual community.

The project builds on the previous Europa Humanistica II project, successfully carried out in 2019–2021.
