Vojtěch Zachník (Univerzita Hradec Králové): Agent-Specific Dimensional Framework for Social Norms
This talk examines the role of normative agents in shaping social norms, proposing an ontology that emphasizes the types of agents involved and their interconnections. Building on extensive literature, I aim to reframe social norms through a relational lens, offering a comprehensive understanding using a dimensional framework. Firstly, I introduce a triangular typology of agents: subjects, enforcers, and audience members. These categories highlight three key functional clusters that reveal the interconnected patterns underlying social norm behavior. Secondly, I map the relational structures of social norms, allowing for the assessment of various factors, their strengths in different contexts, and their overall impact on the ontology of social norms. Finally, I demonstrate how these factors and their scales can describe the ontological profile of specific social norms. Overall, this approach provides a nuanced perspective on the ontology of social norms, facilitating deeper insights into their formation and function.
