THE BOUNDS OF RELIGIOUS COGNITION: STUDY OF COGNITIVE AND CULTURAL FACTORS IN CZECH AND POLISH SOCIETIES
When compared to Poland, the Czech Republic has dramatically lower levels of religious affiliation but much more similar levels of magical beliefs. By gathering and examining data from these two countries we aim to cast light on the cognitive and cultural processes underlying supernatural beliefs and practices, including those characterised as magical, superstitious and religious. In the process we aim to improve the theoretical understanding of the connections between them as well as the methodological tools used to identify them. And to better comprehend the continuing radical dissimilarity between the Czech Republic and Poland.
