9:45am (with nutrition break at 10:30am): Panel on theoretical conceptualization of democracy and resilience. Brief series of 3 -10 minute presentations on important findings from their work, and reflections on the findings from the scoping review, helping us to identify the important aspects of how to theoretically grasp the relationship between democracy and resilience. Questions we ask:

  • How to conceptualize the problem of (current) democracy/democracies? What democracy “is” and what are its biggest threats?
  • What factors should be taken into account in case we wish that people trust they have agency within democratic systems and participate in democratic institutions?
  • What are already existing sources of resilience in democratic societies?

Presenters include (alphabetic order):  Jan Bierhanzl, Janine Clark, Petra Guasti, Pavol Kosnac, Ondřej Lánský, Josef Pallas, Monika Waldis Weber, Kateřina Zábrodská.
