Filip Vostal elected to the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology Council

Filip Vostal from the Centre for Science, Technology and Sociology Studies of the Institute of Philosophy, CAS was elected a member of the EASST Council, an organization representing academics and researchers from the fields of science, technology and innovation studies. The Association brings together a variety of both natural science/engineering and social sciences disciplines and its objective is to foster within Europe the scholarly study of science and technology including their historical development and their role in society. 

Doctoral programme in History and Philosophy of Science and Technology

Joint doctoral programme of the Institute of Philosophy, of the CAS and the Faculty of Arts, University of West Bohemia (Pilsen), enables PhD students to participate in projects of both these institutions, to choose a supervisor from any of them and to do part of their studies at their alma mater and part at the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Science and Technology in Exceptional Situations. Topic for the Theory of Science Journal

The spread of the Covid-19 virus has in many cases significantly affected the usual mode of scientific work. It has also produced new challenges for the existing "rules" for the development and use of technologies. The aim of thematic issue of the Theory of Science journal is to address the question of what is an "emergency situation" in relation to science and to do so from the perspective of studies of in science and technology. CONTRADICTIONS, billingual journal dedicated to professional research and discussions about history and presence of critical social thought in Central and Eastern Europe was included in Scopus, the largest index database of reviewed literature. The Scopus brings a complex overview of world´s research outcomes in science, technology, medicine, social sciences and humanities.
