The project examines Czechoslovak Stalinism as a distinctive case within Central and Eastern Europe. Owing to its long development—from a parliamentary party, through resistance, to a ruling regime—it allows for tracing the emergence, transformation, and functioning of Stalinism in an exceptional scope.

The research focuses on the factors behind its effectiveness and resilience, as well as on the ways its core principles were shaped and communicated. Stalinism is approached as a dynamic system arising from the tension between shifting political strategies and the effort to establish a unified ideological framework.
