Come to a talk by computational semanticist Aurelie Herbelot. She will give an overview of LLMs from both an engineering and a scientific perspective. The talk will provide n engineering description of the algorithm behind LLMs: the Transformer and then discuss the epistemological underpinning of the Transformer and ask how the ontological status of the algorithm impacts on its real-world application.
